Sh. Brahm Dev was born on February 13, 1935. After his schooling from BD High School, Ambala Cantt, and FSc from SD College, Ambala Cantt received B. Pharm and M.Pharm degrees from Amritsar Medical College in 1955 and 1957, respectively. He topped the M.Pharm course and was awarded a gold medal.
In 1957 he joined Sara Squibbs, Baroda as Product Development Chemist and worked there for two years. In 1959 he returned to his hometown, Ambala Cantt, and joined the family business of Pharmaceutical Sales. In 1966 he founded Laxmi Udyog Mandir, Ambala Cantt, a unit to manufacture glass syringes. The initial machine installed was imported from Germany and there was no standardization of the product. Mr. Gupta visited Japan and procured a new machine to improve quality. This was the time when African countries were faced with various epidemics. M/s Laxmi Udyog Mandir was one of the Indian manufacturers supplying glass syringes to these countries through UN missions.
Sh Brahm Dev Gupta was the founder member of Shri Ram Swarup Memorial Trust. He breathed his last on July 7, 2020. His demise caused great loss to society, SRSMT, and the family. We always pray for peace for his soul.
