Electronics and Communication Engineering
Electronics and Communication Engineering Department started the undergraduate program in the year 2002 with an intake of 60 seats. This intake was increased during the session 2003-2004 by the addition of 10% seats through the lateral entry (LEET) scheme. The intake of LEET seats was increased to 20% during the academic session 2011-2012. Presently, the department is running a UG program in Electronics and Communication Engineering with an intake of 30 seats. The labs in the department are well equipped to provide hands-on experience to the students besides the normal curriculum. The department has indigenously developed MEMS/Microelectronics R&D Lab which is a unique feature in the region. Electronics and Communication Engineering is an interdisciplinary subject and covers Electronics, Communication, Instrumentation, IT, and Computers. As a discipline, it finds applications in many areas, as Industrial automation, Embedded system, DSP and Biomedical Equipments. The department has well-developed laboratories and has been continuously growing since its establishment with an aim of preparing the students to excel in the industry and be successful in higher studies. Emphasis is on developing the ability to synthesize data and technical concepts for application to product design. As a first step to extend research activities, CREE (Centre for Research in Electronics Engineering) was started under MOU with ASIMA. The collaboration between ACE-CREE and ASIMA-MCG is with a vision to generate practical knowledge related to the latest embedded technology. The ECE department was also started with an aim to produce highly-skilled industry-ready engineers who can directly contribute to the design and development of electronics and communications-based systems. To overcome the gap between industry and academia, the department also started an Industry Resource Person (IRP) interaction program three years back.
